Our new color bar opens in October
Two extra basins, a darker lounge corner, and a menu of thirty minute gloss appointments for people in a hurry.

Velora started with two chairs, one stylist, and a short waitlist. Renee, our founder, spent fifteen years behind the chair in Seattle and wanted a salon that felt calm instead of loud. Somewhere you could get a proper haircut without being sold three products on the way out.
Nine years later we are twelve people across hair, skin, and nails, in a corner space on Maplewood Avenue with a big window and low music. The promise has not changed. Good work, honest prices, and enough time to do it right.
One short email a month. New treatments, opening week specials, and honest notes from the basin. No spam and nothing else.

Hair on one side of the hallway, skin and nails on the other. Every stylist keeps their own book and their own standards, and nobody works double booked. When you come back, you see the same person who did it right the first time.

Small stories, practical tips, and the occasional announcement. The things we would tell you in the chair anyway.

Dry shampoo before bed, not in the morning. A silk pillowcase helps more than any spray. Dana explains her method.
Wet curls spring back differently on every head. Cutting dry shows the real shape and keeps the length honest.
No sponsored bottles here. The three masks our stylists reach for after bleach, sun, and long Portland summers.
Ten years in Austin, a calm hand with copper tones, and a waiting list that formed in her first month. Say hello.
From September 8 we open at 9:00 instead of 10:00 on weekdays. Saturdays stay the same. Sundays stay quiet.

We keep the lights low, the music softer, and the coffee hot. Every appointment starts with a real consultation before anyone picks up a pair of scissors, and if a look will not suit your hair, we will say so kindly.
It is a simple way to work. It is also the reason most of our bookings come from regulars who send their friends.
